Rainy days may keep you locked up inside of the house, but there are plenty of activities that you can take on to keep everyone busy. While it’s tempting to let your kids play on their tablets for the day, taking on a family activity will bring you all closer together. Let’s take a look at some great family activities for rainy days.
Board Games
There are some really fun board games these days, but you can also bring out some of the classics. Teaching your kids how to play chess or checkers can provide hours of fun. Your child can learn to strategize, and you can get some family tournaments going.
Obstacle Course
Turn your home into an obstacle course with pillows, furniture, toys, and more. You can even encourage your kids to get around the room without their feet touching the floor. The loser has to wash the dishes after dinner!
Craft Time
A quick internet search can provide you with different craft activities that can be done using items you already have at home. If you’re not interested in having everyone do the same thing, bring out some craft and coloring supplies. Everybody can get creative and come up with their own idea.
Family Talent Show
Have everyone retreat to their bedrooms for an hour. The goal is to come back out into the living room for a family talent show. The talent show performances can consist of a song, dance, magic tricks, comedy performance, or musical performance. Adults can be judges if they don’t want to partake in the festivities.
Take On a Household Project
If there’s something in the home that you’ve been putting off for months, now is the perfect time to get it done. If you’ve been wanting to paint a bedroom, get everyone in the family involved. Older kids can help tape or cut in the higher points. Younger ones will love putting some paint up on the walls. Everyone can have a say where furniture will be put back into place.
Being stuck in the house on a rainy day doesn’t mean you have to sit around and complain how bored you are. Thinking outside of your normal schedule will likely bring about some really great ideas. Not to mention, this is a wonderful opportunity to make many lasting memories.
